Ayne Amjad is running for the United States House of Representatives 2018. She aims to serve the Third Congressional District of West Virginia that includes Boone, Cabell, Fayette, Greenbrier, Lincoln, Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Pocahontas, Raleigh, Mason, Summers, Wayne, Webster, and Wyoming counties. 

    Practicing in Beckley and Princeton for the past seven years, Ayne is a medical doctor focusing on preventive health care.  

     She is also the Stroke Director at Health South Southern Hills in Princeton. Ayne gives monthly educational lectures to patients and families about stroke prevention, overall heart health, and how to assist family members who have suffered a stroke. Ayne is also a mentor for medical students with the West Virginia Osteopathic School in Lewisburg and Avalon Medical School. 

   In addition to her clinical practice, Ayne founded the Palm Diet to reduce obesity in West Virginia. The diet emphasizes portion control and healthy eating choices of what is already available to a household. She also visited local elementary schools and provided education to students about dietary choices. She also raised funds for United Way as a local Dancing with the Stars Contestant to the song “Singing in the Rain.” Ayne recently launched Bee Better, a nonprofit organization that aims to reduce the opioid epidemic with comprehensive methods and community collaboration. 

   A familiar face and voice in the region, Ayne has provided medical advice to local newspapers and television news media for the last several years. Example topics include nutrition and obesity, the opioid crisis, and other preventive medicine topics. 

   Born and raised in Beckley, Ayne attended Greater Beckley Christian School, Stratton Jr. High School, and Woodrow Wilson High School. Later, she studied Biochemistry at Virginia Tech (BSc.), Public Health at West Virginia University (M.P.H.), and graduated from Marshall University School of Medicine (M.D.). Ayne completed her internal medicine residency program at Allegheny General hospital in Pittsburgh.

   Before running for Congress, Ayne ran for mayor of Beckley in 2016 as a write-in candidate. 

   Ayne Amjad lives in Raleigh County near her extended family, along with her dog Sophie.
